A thin, heavy, flexible layer that installs inside walls, floors, and ceilings before they close up. It doesn't reflect sound — it converts it to trace heat.
Why a floppy sheet beats a concrete wall
Rigid materials reflect sound — and resonate at the frequencies you most want to stop. Acoustiblok is deliberately limp: a viscoelastic polymer sheet, loaded with non-toxic minerals, that flexes microscopically as sound hits it and dissipates the energy as friction.
The result: a single 1/8″ layer in a standard stud wall adds more sound reduction than a second layer of drywall ever could — it's the layer that turns an ordinary wall into a rated assembly. That's why it's specified in everything from condo party walls to power plants.
How the material works
Sound hits the membrane
Airborne noise reaches the Blok layer inside the wall, floor, or ceiling assembly.
The limp mass flexes
Instead of resonating like a rigid panel, the viscoelastic sheet flexes microscopically with each pressure wave.
Energy leaves as trace heat
Internal friction converts the sound energy to an imperceptible amount of heat. Nothing reflects, nothing transmits.
Higher STC blocks more sound — roughly every +10 STC halves what you hear through the wall. Rated assemblies run to STC 85.
